For in fact the body is not one member but many. (1 Corinthians 12:14 NKJV)
The first time I looked inside my computer, I was amazed. There are pieces and parts in various shapes and sizes, connected by cables in various lengths and thicknesses. Each of the components is designed with a specific function.
The processor is the brains of the computer. It computes and processes data. The hard drive stores program and file data. Memory chips store the data necessary for running the programs. The motherboard is the communication system that enables all the components to work together. All of these parts comprise the “body” of the computer. None can function without the others. They are not self-sufficient. They function only as a team.
Christians should function as a team—a body with many members. Different parts, different functions. The hard drive in the computer cannot perform the function of the processor. Our ears cannot perform the function of our eyes. God has given each of us specific gifts. If we all sang soprano, there would be no harmony. Teamwork results in strength, growth, and encouragement for the entire body of believers.
Think of the people you serve most closely with in your ministries. Is there someone on your “team” who could use a word of encouragement today?
Father, help me to use the gifts you have given me. Let me always be a team player.
